Since having spent time in an adult facility it’s been challenging to find a job. It’s hard for me to check the conviction box at the end of the application because I know that it is going to affect whether or not I get the job. That’s the reason why I put the check box over my mouth. Once I check the box I never get to speak to the employer and they never get to see the real me. It’s very discouraging to know that something I did when I was 17 is going to affect me for the rest of my life. I wish they got the see the loving, smart and funny person I really am instead of the person I’m perceived to be.
